This is the largest group of inorganic compounds. Frequent metal cations are potassium, sodium, lithium, copper, magnesium, calcium, barium, iron, tin or, as a non-metal cation, ammonium and compounds derived from this. The most common acid residue anions are chlorides, nitrates, sulphates, phosphates, carbonates, bromides, iodides, fluorides, sulphides, nitrites, sulphites, or phosphides.
